{"id":12100,"date":"2020-06-20T16:30:42","date_gmt":"2020-06-20T13:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/city\/oslo-norway\/"},"modified":"2024-05-04T21:01:07","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T18:01:07","slug":"oslo-norway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/en\/city\/oslo-norway\/","title":{"rendered":"Oslo: not only snow and cold but also great maritime traditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>OSLO: FIRST STOP ON A TRIP TO NORWAY<\/h1>\n<p>On my last trips I chose physically hard ones, thinking that afterwards it will be more difficult to do similar experiences.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s why I had imagined going to <span class=\"\">Scandinavia in the future..<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"\">Instead some coincidence changed my plans and I decided to go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/en\/destinations\/norway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Norway<\/a> before.<br \/>\nI never visit a country without going through its capital. And <strong>Oslo<\/strong> was the first destination of my long trip.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I had always associated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/en\/destinations\/norway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Norway<\/a> with snow, cold and northern lights. But of course there&#8217;s much more.<br \/>\nNorwegians have great maritime traditions, from <strong>Vikings<\/strong> to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/en\/destinations\/arctic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arctic<\/a>explorations. And not only that&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Is it possible a low cost trip to Norway? Sometimes you have to wait a long time so you could read the various <strong>tourist brochures<\/strong>, rich in details and available in many languages.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nobels Fredssenter &#8211; Nobel Peace Prize Palace<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Alfred Nobel<\/strong> became rich thanks to the 355 patents filed following his experiments about <strong>explosives<\/strong> (he invented also dynamite).<br \/>\nWhen his older brother died in an explosion during an experiment, some French newspapers believed that Alfred, &#8220;the merchant of death who made his fortune by finding a way to kill as many people as possible&#8221;, had died.<br \/>\nShocked by these words, he decided to devote his immense fortune and the interests subsequently accrued by his investment funds to create a series of <strong>Nobel Prizes<\/strong> for those who, during the previous year, contributed the most to <strong>serve humanity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The award money, currently close to 9 million NOK (about \u20ac 870,000.00), is divided into five equal parts: to the person who made the most important discovery or invention in the field of <strong>physics<\/strong>, <strong>chemical<\/strong>, <strong>physiology\/<\/strong><strong>medicine<\/strong>, who produced the <strong>literary work<\/strong> most idealistic and to the person who has done the most for the <strong>fraternity among nations<\/strong>, fot the <strong>abolition or reduction of armies<\/strong> and for training and increase of <strong>peace congresses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the nationality of the candidates should not be taken into account in the awarding of prizes.<br \/>\nNobel Prizes in physics, chemistry, medicine and literature are commonly considered to be the most prestigious in these fields.<br \/>\nThe Nobel Peace Prize, especially lately, is often accompanied by controversy over the political evaluations that motivate it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12070 size-full lazyload\" title=\"Norway - Oslo - Nobel Peace Center\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center.jpg\" alt=\"Norway - Oslo - Nobel Peace Center\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center-705x529.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.cosmorevas.tk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Norvegia-Oslo-Nobel-Peace-Center-450x338.jpg 450w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1000px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1000\/750;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Oslo Card convinced me to go in but unfortunately the initial scepticism was reinforced minute after minute.<br \/>\nThere are temporary exhibitions on the ground floor. I found a photographic exhibition about changes in generational values but I don&#8217;t understand what consumerism, sex and cosmetic surgery have to do with the Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n<p>Upstairs, on the other hand, it is one-way politics that is the master, a clear demonstration of how unfortunately the Nobel Peace Prize has become almost the nobel for exporters of peace and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>This disappointment does not make me buy souvenir in the large shop or in the bar inside.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kon-Tiki Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>My high school math and physics teacher used to tell us that &#8220;<strong>we are all ignorant<\/strong>&#8220;. It&#8217;s the largest of the three, with space for 32 rowers.<br \/>\nThe oar-holes could be closed with wooden covers when the ship was sailing.<br \/>\nThe Gokstad reached a speed of more than <strong>twelve knots<\/strong> and could sail to Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the items were well preserved because the ships had been buried in damp soil and covered with clay and grass, but since no jewels and weapons were found, they were supposedly looted.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fullText \">Seeing Viking ships is exciting and unmissable during a trip to Oslo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fram Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"fullText \">This museum too, close to the one described above, is definitely worth an accurate visit.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fullText \">The <strong>ship Fram<\/strong> was the first ship built in Norway specifically for polar research.
